How to Deal with Animals on Frontierville

While it is entertaining to plant and harvest crops, chop down trees for wood, clear weeds and thorns, and feed the farm animals on Frontierville, it is doubtful anyone enjoys the invading animals that interrupt these processes. It seems nearly impossible to clear any thorns or weeds without a snake appearing, and as soon as it's gone, another replaces it. Same goes for all the other invading animals, such as the bear, gopher and fox.

Zynga has created a few ways around having to deal with these irritants, but there is another easier way to handle them than having to build separate buildings to keep them away. Though the gopher trap is very cute and well worth the effort. While there are many tips and tricks to Frontierville, only those involving the invading animals will be discussed in this article.

Only One Invading Animal at a Time

The one trick that many players might not realize is that there can be only one of each invading animal on their frontier. For instance if a bear has entered game play due to chopping down a tree, that is the only bear that will show up until it is scared away. So if that one is scared away, and player goes on to cut down another tree, another bear could very well show up (and probably will soon). If this cycle happens too often, it could be tempting to just give up and stop playing.

Don't throw in the towel just yet. If a bear shows up, try scaring it away from the tree that is being cut down. Once it is no longer highlighted in red, the player can chop it the rest of the way down. Then leave the bear where it is and chop down trees that aren't red. Every remaining tree can be chopped down with no further incidents. As long as that bear is lurking on the frontier, no others will appear.

Snake, Gopher, Fox and Bear ... Oh my!

This works with the snake, gopher and fox. The trick is getting them to appear where they are the least intrusive. The best strategy is to separate the farm animals and place them in different areas. So if a fox appears, the other animals can all be cared for. Then take care of the fox later. While it used to be harmless, if left long enough will now eat chickens. The new coyote seems to do the same thing, so if these two pests show up, it is best to scare them away.

The same space rule applies for the crops and trees. Plant them in bunches with area between them. So if a gopher or bear shows up, the rest can be harvested/chopped down with no interference from the animals.

A Glitch Saves Energy, so Take Advantage of it

One important tip to note is that no extra energy is used to harvest and/or feed an item which is highlighted in red, even though a warning is displayed that must be accepted. It might be a scare tactic or an error which will eventually be fixed. Until it is fixed, take advantage of it.

The glitch could very well be fixed after this article is published, so be sure to check how much energy is consumed after trying it once, before proceeding. See photos for before and after a highlighted tree is chopped as of today.

Invading Animals are Harmless, so They can be Left Alone

One final note on the invading animals. Some articles that have been written on Frontierville say these animals will take over the frontier. While it may look that way to someone visiting a neighbor's homestead, it should also be noted that there won't ever be more than one of each of those four animals.

Enjoy the game and don't let these invading pests get in the way of the fun.
